Apart from its scenic offerings, the Birkenfelder Land also has a rich cultural and historical heritage.

The Birkenfeld State Museum is the best place to start for a first overview. Here you will learn many things about the history of the entire region – from the Celts and the time of the Wittelsbach, Sponheim and Oldenburg dynasties all the way to current events presented in a changing variety of special exhibitions.

A city tour will introduce you to the most beautiful corners of our district town.

Many architectural monuments throughout the region are well worth visiting. We will be happy to give you more information.

You should make sure to pay a visit to the Petersquelle (spring) and the Sauerbrunnen (well). Just a few kilometres away, there was once a spa where crowned rulers stayed to promote their health. But see for yourself
